The 16th Hong Kong Teenage Art Competition

Objective

To promote and encourage children’s comprehensive artistic and intelligent development, and enhance children’s interest in graphic arts.

 

Eligibility

Competition category (according to June 30, 2024)

3 years old, 4 years old, 5 years old, 6-8 years old, 9-11 years old, 12-14 years old, 15-18 years old

 

Competition items and details (Can participate in multiple)

– Painting item

  • Western painting (The work uses A3 drawing paper and any paints, and the size does not exceed 297mm x 420mm)
  • Oil painting (the work uses canvas and oil/plastic paint, and the size does not exceed 297mm x 420mm)
  • Chinese Ink painting (The work uses rice paper and ink paint, and the size does not exceed 297mm x 420mm)

 

– Unlimited subject matter and creation.

– Participants can only submit one piece of work per project.

– The entry form must be affixed to the back of all entries, and the name of the work must be filled in.

– Entries must be created by the participant. If they are not created by the participant, they will be disqualified from the competition, and the paid entry fee will not be refunded.

– All artworks will not be returned.

– Handling fee and postage HK$50 are required to return the work.

– Drawing lines, overall layout, color use and creative ideas.

 

– Photographic item

– Unlimited subject matter and creation.

– Participants can only submit one piece of work.

– The entry form must be affixed to the back of all entries, and the name of the work must be filled in.

– Entries must be created by the participant. If they are not created by the participant, they will be disqualified from the competition, and the paid entry fee will not be refunded.

– All artworks will not be returned.

– Post-processed works are not accepted.

– The size of each photo is 8 x 10 inches (8R) photos.

– Handling fee and postage HK$50 are required to return the work.

 

 

– Calligraphy item

  • Brush calligraphy (Big-size brush Chinese Calligraphy) ** (no group of 3-5 years old)
  • Brush calligraphy (Small-size brush Chinese Calligraphy) ** (no group of 3-5 years old)
  • Pen calligraphy (Chinese Pen Calligraphy)
  • Pen calligraphy (English Pen Calligraphy)

 

– Brush calligraphy is not limited to fonts.

– Brush calligraphy (Big-size brush Chinese Calligraphy) – Participants only need to submit works written on rice paper, and the size does not exceed 290mm x 450mm.

– Brush calligraphy (Small-size brush Chinese Calligraphy) – Please write on Jiugongge rice paper.

– Pen calligraphy – Please use the format provided (3 years old, 4 years old, 5 years old, 6-8 years old group use pencil to write; 9-11 years old group, 12-14 years old group, 15-18 years old use ball-point pen or ink pen to write).

  • Each person can only submit one piece of work per project.
  • All artwork must be accompanied by an entry form. Participants should write their names on the back of the artwork, not in the front.
  • Entries must be created by the participant. If they are not created by the participant, they will be disqualified from the competition, and the paid entry fee will not be refunded.
  • All artwork will not be returned.
  • If you have to return the work, you must pay a handling fee and postage HK$50. (The winning works must be returned after the public exhibition is completed)
  • Underpaid mail – If you submit your work by mail, please make sure that sufficient postage is affixed to the mail before posting. The Organizing Committee will not accept any underpaid mail, and such mail will be processed by Hongkong Post. For calculation of postage, please refer to the Hongkong Post website. Prize

  • Score sheets will be given to all participants at the end of the competition.

The First-, Second-, Third-prize or The Outstanding Performance Award winners will be awarded with trophies and certificates in each group.

“The Outstanding Performance Award” winner must score 80 marks or above and completed in a group of more than 10 candidates.

(If there are less than 5 people in one group or less than 5 groups in one category, the prizes will be decided according to the candidates’ score).

All award-winning works will be held on October 2023 at Adelaide Australia.

  • Award for Excellence Guidance School will be presented to school with the highest aggregate scores and the most winners.
  • Award for Active Participant (School) will be presented to school with the most participants.
  • Award for Excellence Guidance Tutor will be presented to teacher with the highest aggregate scores and the most winners.
  • Award for Active Participant (Tutor) will be presented to teacher with the most participants.
  • Adjudicators have the rights of deciding not to give any prize or to eliminate the prizes of the group if the skills demonstrated by the participants have not reached the winning standard.
  • The Organizing Committee and adjudicators have the authority to make changes on the prize and grouping arrangement in accordance to the competitors’ standard and number of participants in each particular group without prior notice.
  • Other participants are recognized based on their final scores:

“Certificate of Merit”: a score of 70 or above

“Certificate of Participation”: a score of 69 or below

  • Different grades of certificates will be given to participants based on their final scores.

 

Winner Announcement

Winners will be announced on 1st August 2024 on www.hk-starkids.com .

Competition Arrangements

  • The publishing copyright of the winning works belongs to the organizer.
  • Personal information (including name and school name) should be filled out on the entry form and should not appear front in the work.
  • Participants must clearly fill in the entry category.
  • Entries must be original and have not been published, published or the same type of competition in any way or channel.
  • All entries must not be published before the results are announced.
  • After receiving the registration fee, the registration process must take effect.
  • All unpaid registration forms, attached promissory notes, incorrect information, incorrect or incomplete fillings will not be accepted or disqualified before or after the competition, and the fees paid will not be refunded.
  • After the participant registers, the registration fee will not be refunded.
  • All participants must abide by the rules set by the organizer. In case of violation, the organizer reserves the right to disqualify any participant.
  • Score sheets will be given to all participants at the end of the competition.
  • Adjudicators have the rights of deciding not to give any prize or to eliminate the prizes of the group if the skills demonstrated by the participants have not reached the winning standard.
  • The Organizing Committee and adjudicators have the authority to make changes on the prize and grouping arrangement in accordance to the competitors’ standard and number of participants in each particular group without prior notice.
  • The Organizing Committee reserves the rights to cancel any competition level if necessary. In case of any cancellation, the affected candidates will be notified and the application fee will be refunded.
  • The organizing committee reserves the right to amend or rescind any regulation, award or judge pertaining to the Competition without any prior notice.
  • The organizer reserves the right to disqualify any competitor who fails to comply with the requirements, regulations and eligibility set by the Organizer.
  • The Organizing Committee has the exclusive rights of the competitors’ image, information, and work. All of the information and recordings may be used for advertising purposes.
  • All copyrights belong to the organizer.
  • The organizing committee reserves the right of final decision in case of uncertainty or dispute.
  • The organizing committee reserves the right to amend or rescind any regulation, award or judge pertaining to the Competition without any prior notice.
  • In the event of a dispute, the Chinese version of this prospectus is definitive.
