The 18th Hong Kong Students Speech Competition

Application Procedure:
1. Apply online or download the registration form.

2. Deposit the registration fee into the bank (Complete the registration form and fax / email / WhatsApp it along with the bank receipt (please indicate the participant’s name, the competition they are participating in, the group, and contact phone number) to our center.)

* The competition details will be announced on our web site 5 days before the contest day, candidates should be responsible to check it online. There will be NO notice given ahead of the competition. Refund and rescheduling are not allowed for late candidates and absentee.
* Application form received after the deadline will not be accepted, unless an extra fee of HK$100 is received.

Objective:
Enhancing students’ recitation skills and the ability to use different languages can promote children’s language development, cultivate their self-confidence and expressive abilities, as well as popularize arts education and nurture outstanding talents. By providing a competition platform, it offers an opportunity to showcase talents and learn from each other.

 

Application Fee: $300/each

 

Eligibility: All Kindergarten and Primary school students

 

Language: Mandarin, Cantonese, English (can participate in multiple category)

* Only one piece in each category should be entered. (Selection from your own poems, and a copy of poems must be submitted with the application form.)

* The group according to the 2025-2026 school year.

Judging Criteria:
The evaluation criteria include basic techniques of dance styles, style, expression, cooperation, music selection, theme expression, performance costumes, choreography creativity, innovative thinking, the participants’ appeal, and their ability to resonate with the audience. The judges have the final decision on all artistic matters.

 

Prize:
1. Score sheets will be given to all competitors at the end of the competition.
2. The First-, Second-, or Third-prize winners will be awarded with trophies and certificates in each group.
3. “The Outstanding Award” winner must score 80 marks or above and completed in a group of more than 10 competitors.
4. “Award for Excellence Guidance School” will be presented to school with the highest aggregate scores and the most winners.
5. “Award for Active Participant (School)” will be presented to school with the most competitors.
6. “Award for Excellence Guidance Tutor” will be presented to teacher with the highest aggregate scores and the most winners.
7. “Award for Active Participant (Tutor)” will be presented to teacher with the most competitors.

Other competitors are recognized based on their final scores:
“Certificate of Merit“: a score of 70 or above
“Certificate of Participation“: a score of 69 or below
9. Adjudicators have the rights of deciding not to give any prize or to eliminate the prizes of the group if the skills demonstrated by the competitors have not reached the winning standard.
10. The Organizing Committee and adjudicators have the authority to make changes on the prize and grouping arrangement in accordance to the competitors’ standard and number of competitors in each particular group without prior notice.

 

Registration Instructions:
1. Competitors can register for multiple competitions, but only one competition per form.  Violation of this rule will result in disqualification, and registration fees will not be refunded.
2. The registration process will only be effective upon receipt of the registration fee.
3. Any registration forms that are unpaid, attached with a post-dated cheque, contain incorrect or untrue information, or are not fully completed may not be accepted or may be disqualified, whether before or after the competition. Paid fees will not be refunded.
4. When submitting the registration form, please fill it out carefully. Any changes made after the registration deadline will incur a handling fee of HK$100 per person per item.
5. Once registered, the registration fee will not be refunded, regardless of attendance, and cannot be transferred to others or used for another competition.

 

Competition Arrangements and Other Rules

  • Competitors can register for multiple competitions, but only one competition per form.  Violation of this rule will result in disqualification, and registration fees will not be refunded.
  • The Organizing Committee reserves the rights to cancel any competition level if necessary. In case of any cancellation, the affected competiors will be notified and the application fee will be refunded.
  • All competitors must stay until the end of the competition.
  • Competitors who arrive late will be allowed to perform on stage, but may not compete for any prizes. Judges will provide late competitors with a written assessment, but will not award a score. If latecomers have not arrived by the final round of the competition will be considered “no-shows”, and will not be permitted to perform on stage. The application fee will NOT be refunded.
  • The result will be announced at the end of the competition.
  • The Organizing Committee reserves the rights to change any competition arrangement (e.g. performing order, date, time, etc.) if necessary. The affected competitors will be notified.
  • The Organizing Committee DOES NOT accept any request to change the competition arrangement (e.g. performing order, date, time, etc.).
  • Maximum time limits must be strictly observed competitors may be stopped and/or disqualified if they go over. Adjudicator has the right and full discretion to stop performance at any time.
  • Any hints given to the contestant are forbidden during the competition. The organizing committee has the right to disqualify any contestant who fails to obey the rule.
  • The organizing committee has the right to disqualify any contestant who violates any of the rules and regulations. No refund of Application Fees will be given under these circumstances.
  • The organizing committee reserves the right of final decision in case of uncertainty or dispute.
  • The organizing committee reserves the right to amend or rescind any regulation, award or judge pertaining to the Competition without any prior notice.
  • The application must be deemed complete and accurate, and fees paid. Otherwise, the application will not be processed and the candidate will be disqualified. The applicant will not receive any notice for any incomplete entries, and the application fee will not be refunded.
  • Please fill in the application form carefully, HK$100 is charged for each change to any information in your submitted application.
  • All rounds of the competition will be recorded and videotaped. The copyright of all audio and visual recordings belongs to the properties of the organizer.
  • The Organizing Committee has the exclusive rights of the competitors’ image, information, and work. All of the information and recordings may be used for advertising purposes.
  • Application is not complete until the application fee has been received. Once application has been submitted, no changes are allowed.
  • In the event of a dispute, the Chinese version of this prospectus is definitive.
